My name is Taylor Byron and I am a sophomore English Education major at Florida State University. I am from Orlando, FL but this past year I lived in South Carolina, as I completed my first year of college at Clemson University. I want to teach high school English once I graduate, and hopefully help my future students not only to learn about writing and analysis, but also help them understand the life lessons that books provide. In my free time, I play the violin and do aerial silks. I've played violin since the second grade and plan on continuing it as a hobby for the rest of my life. Aerial silks is something I started my freshman year of high school, and it's a fun way to simultaneously use my creativity while exercising.
As far as my prior experiences with technology goes, I have gotten to use some unique instruments of technology while learning. For example, I got to go to a Virtual Reality lab and use it to visually see what was being taught in one of my classes last year. In high school, we used technology such as the smart board and laptops to learn and access textbooks and other tools. My school used technology to help us access books, canvas, grades, and more. While there is still a lot of technology I haven't used in an educational setting yet, I think I have a good understanding of the importance of it.
My goal for this class is to become more familiar with the various technology that are used for education. This is extremely important to me because I want to understand the tools I will be using throughout my career as a teacher. I hope that this class will teach me new skills that I can use for the rest of my life. Additionally, I want this course to help me refine the skills I already possess in an effort to become the best teacher that I can be, and a large part of education now is based on technology.

Its cool that you went to Clemson last year! One of my cousins is a sophomore there this year. Aerial silks is also a really interesting skill to have under your belt. A virtual reality lab seems like a lot of fun to have experienced, especially when using it for a class. You have some good points about using technology in the future as a teacher and I totally understand. In this day and age, even Kindergartners have laptops in the classroom and they know exactly how to use them which is crazy!!
