I focused on the ELA technology standards for 11-12 grades, which is what I want to teach. I feel most prepared, as of right now, to teach how to gather relevant information from credible sources. I feel ready to teach this standard because I learned how to do this in my schooling, so I think I could easily explain it to someone else and show them how to use it. I think I would require more learning to be able to teach how to make strategic use of digital media to provide evidence and add interest. I feel like I can do it for myself, but I think I would need to read and learn more about it before I could effectively teach it to others.      I think an important tool/resource from the Educator Toolkit is the lesson plans that they offer. There are lesson plans for each subject and divided by grades. For example, I found a lesson plan that is for English language arts and math. It is a lesson plan for a teacher to use to teach their students about Engl...

I use Microsoft Word for my classes very often. I write almost all of my papers in Word. Especially in college, because I want to make sure that my documents are all in the same place and organized. In high school, I was once required to create a poster (similar to the newsletter for this course) in an English class for a book we were reading. This required me to use different aspects of Word that I hadn't used previously, such as adding a border and images. I have seen my teachers use MS Word to create rubrics for projects, tests, and also to create permission slips for field trips. However, it's mainly used by my teachers for creating tests and rubrics.      I have a lot of experience with copyright and fair use of materials in high school. For example, I had to give a 20 minute presentation with a presentation behind me while I spoke. In this project, part of our grade was using non-copyright sources and making sure we cited all images we took from...

I think teachers and students are influenced to use technology in classrooms for a couple important reasons. The main reason students and teachers use technology is because it is so prominent in our world that it is necessary to implement it in the classroom. If teachers didn't use technology in classrooms, students would be unprepared and behind when they got into the workforce and were expected to be able to effectively use technology in different ways. Another important reason is the access that it grants both teachers and students. With the use of technology, students can research topics online and find credible sources, they can check their facts, and they can share their information with other students. It also brings a new level of communication between the students and teachers. With technology, both the students and teachers can send emails or Canvas notifications anytime with reminders, updates, or questions. This allows for the class time to be spent on to...
