Journal #3
I focused on the ELA technology standards for 11-12 grades, which is what I want to teach. I feel most prepared, as of right now, to teach how to gather relevant information from credible sources. I feel ready to teach this standard because I learned how to do this in my schooling, so I think I could easily explain it to someone else and show them how to use it. I think I would require more learning to be able to teach how to make strategic use of digital media to provide evidence and add interest. I feel like I can do it for myself, but I think I would need to read and learn more about it before I could effectively teach it to others.

I think an important tool/resource from the Educator Toolkit is the lesson plans that they offer. There are lesson plans for each subject and divided by grades. For example, I found a lesson plan that is for English language arts and math. It is a lesson plan for a teacher to use to teach their students about English subjects. This particular study has students use computers to search for colleges and find information on the best programs for their interests, etc. This shows an excellent way technology can be used in an English classroom, which is something I am going to use in curriculum as a teacher. I want to use the lesson plans because even though I probably wouldn't use that exact lesson plan, I would use it as an example of the types of methods I could use to teach my students and to show different ways to use technology in class.
While working on the Newsletter Design, I learned how to shade a section and how to add columns in Word. I liked my Newsletter, I think I did an excellent job of making it fun and colorful without distracting from the articles and news. I could have added more images to make it more playful looking. Other than that, I liked my Newsletter and wouldn't change anything else. I could improve by making it even more specific to my class. I will be able to use these skills in my career as a high school English teacher, to create Newsletters or flyers with information for my class easily and make them creative.
