Journal #4

I found the Twitter to be the most useful for communication on how other people are completing assignments for the class. We discuss how we feel they went, what we think we did well or need to work on, and upcoming assignments. I have interacted with a lot of people in the class through Twitter to discuss education posts, technology use in classrooms, our class and the assignments, and more. It's been beneficial to communicate about important educational topics we will face as future teaches. I think Twitter will be helpful in my future career as a teacher because it will give me a platform to ask questions to my peers. I can also continue to learn about different teaching techniques and methods to implement into my classroom as a teacher.
The digital divide is important in schools because it affects how students learn. Digital divide is the shift that exists between students who have technology and those who don't. It affects the way that students do assignments and learn in a few ways. For example, if a student doesn't have access to technology, they can't email a teacher with questions about homework, they can't submit assignments online, and they can't research topics to learn more and find information. Students with technology learn how to use that technology for school purposes (which can be translated to jobs later), and how to find sources and research to better inform them on topics. As a teacher, I could experience students who don't have access to technology, which means that I will have to find different ways of giving them those resources that are gained through technology and I will have to do my best to give them the supplies they need, like printing out the worksheets or information they need for an assignment.
I would like to implement MS Word and PowerPoint as academic software in my future classroom. MS Word is so important because most people will use it every day in their future schooling and jobs. It is used to write papers, create posters, and edit materials. As a teacher, I will use MS Word to create rubrics for assignments, create posters/newsletters for the class, and create assignments. PowerPoint is used to boost a presentation. For example, as a teacher I would use it when teaching my students about a book. By using PowerPoint, I can add important quotes, relevant pictures and facts, and questions for discussion about that book on the presentation to add to the overall information given to students.
